The plot

The plot of Demetra is rich in characters, dramatic situations and unexpected twists. At its core lies the ancient Greek myth of the abduction of Persephone, a tale that has been reinterpreted in countless ways throughout history.
In Demetra, the destinies of Persephone, her mother and her lover explore universal themes that remain deeply relevant today.
Let us briefly see what happens.
Demeter is the goddess of Fertility. She has an adolescent daughter, Persephone, and fears losing her. For this reason, she keeps her secluded within a palace on a radiant island in the heart of the Mediterranean. Persephone, however, longs for freedom and during her first excursion to the lake she is abducted by Hades, the king of the Underworld.
Hades envies mortals, who can experience passion, while he—being eternal—is condemned to unhappiness. He also envies his siblings, Zeus and Demeter, who live among humans and can taste that intoxication every day. Out of resentment, Hades abducts Persephone, daughter of Zeus and Demeter. Yet he soon falls genuinely in love with her.
Meanwhile, Demeter implores Zeus to free her daughter. Zeus, after attempting to justify his younger brother, delivers his judgment: Persephone must be free to choose her own destiny.
Persephone chooses both worlds. For six months she will remain at the side of Hades as Queen of the Underworld; for six months she will return to her mother on Earth, allowing life to bloom once more.
